QuickPack

QuickPack is a fast and nifty way to access your Backpack account via Quicksilver.

It comes as a Quicksilver action written in AppleScript and enables you to send
various information to your Backpack site. You can write todos, notes, reminders
and even get the possibility to create events in your Backpack calendars.
QuickPack supports Growl, so you will get a handy confirmation.

Download QuickPack (51KB)

It´s easy to install:

  1. Decopmress the QuickPack.dmg image
  2. Put the QuickPack.scpt script file in your Quicksilver actions folder (User -> Library -> Application Support -> Quicksilver -> Actions). If there is no Actions folder just create one yourself.
  3. Restart Quicksilver

The first time you use QuickPick you will be prompted for your Backpack name and API key. So make sure you first go to your Backpack Account Page and get your clipboard filled with API. From now on your name and key should be saved in the Keychain.

And easy to use:

  1. Invoke Quicksilver and go into text mode (period by default)
  2. Type the shortcut for the preferred Backpack function (detailed description below) followed by what you want to post
  3. Press TAB and choose the QuickPack Action (type Q or QP for example)
  4. When you press Return you get a list of your Backpack pages/calendars (only with todos, notes and reminders)
  5. Just choose the one your request should be sent to
  6. When Growl is installed, you get a confirmation that your data has been sent

Some other facts:

  • Since I only have the Basic Account I had no chance to test SSL, so there is no support for this
  • I only tested QuickPack with 20 Pages and 7 different calendars
  • For specific infos on the different formats of reminders and events please check the Backpack help
  • QuickPack saves your last used page and calendar in a preferences file
